1.1 These terms and conditions apply to all participants attending the AbSec Conference (the “Conference”) held from 12-14 November 2024 (the “Event Dates”).
1.2 By registering for the Conference, participants agree to comply with and be bound by these terms and conditions.
1.3 AbSec reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time. Any changes will be communicated to participants via the official Conference website or email.
2.1 Registration for the Conference is mandatory for all participants and must be completed via the official Conference website.
2.2 All prices displayed are in AUD, include GST, and are correct at the date of offer. Prices may be subject to change until registration is confirmed.
2.3 Registration fees must be paid in full prior to the commencement of the Conference. Payment can be made via credit card using Stripe. Stripe’s security and fraud protection information can be reviewed on their website.
2.4 AbSec will neither collect nor store your credit card details. All credit card payments are processed through Stripe.
3.1 Any cancellations or changes to a registration which results in a refund will incur an administration fee of $100.00.
3.2 Cancellations and/or amendments must be received via email: events@absec.org.au.
3.3 Once a delegate registers and receives their registration confirmation, AbSec will provide one set of complimentary changes that do not require a refund. Any further changes will incur an administration fee of $35.00.
4.1 The Conference will include welcome drinks and canapés at the close of Day 1, and a Gala Dinner and Awards Night on Day 2.
4.2 AbSec reserves the right to make changes to the event program, including speakers, topics, and schedules, without prior notice.
5.1 Participants are expected to behave in a professional and respectful manner at all times.
5.2 Any form of harassment, discrimination, or inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated and may result in expulsion from the Conference without refund.
5.3 AbSec is not responsible for the behaviour of other delegates. Participants should report any inappropriate behaviour to event staff immediately.
5.4 Participants are responsible for all delegates representing their organisation at the Conference.
5.5 AbSec may, at its sole discretion, refuse a delegate entry into, or remove a delegate from, the Conference and prohibit them and/or their organisation from participating in the remainder of the Conference and/or future events without compensation if AbSec considers, acting reasonably, that the delegate is acting in contravention of the Code of Conduct. This includes behaviour that:

6.1 AbSec shall not be held liable for any loss, damage, or injury suffered by participants during the Conference, except where such loss, damage, or injury is caused by the gross negligence of AbSec.
6.2 Participants are responsible for their own personal belongings and are advised not to leave them unattended. Valuables should not be left unattended or unsecured at any time.
6.3 It is strongly recommended and the responsibility of participants to have insurance to cover medical, travel, and registration expenses in the event of unforeseen circumstances.
7.1 AbSec is committed to protecting the privacy of participants and will handle personal data in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
7.2 By completing the registration form, participants acknowledge that the details supplied by them may be made available to the Conference Committee, venue, and accommodation providers for the purposes of room bookings and conference-related items only.
7.3 Participants’ details will be included in the delegate list for the purpose of event logistic arrangements only. If participants do not wish to share their details, they should tick the appropriate box during the registration process.
7.4 Participants’ details will be added to AbSec’s mailing subscriber list unless they opt-out.
8.1 By attending the Conference, participants consent to being photographed and recorded by AbSec, its designated representatives, agents, or other Event participants.
8.2 Photographs and recordings may be used for promotional purposes by AbSec, its partners, and affiliates without compensation to participants.
8.3 The Conference will be recorded and made available by AbSec after the event has ended.
8.4 Participants’ images will also be archived with AbSec and may be used by AbSec and sponsors for the promotion of future events.
8.5 By registering for the AbSec Conference, participants allow AbSec NSW to use their images, videos, and voice in media indefinitely.
8.6 This consent is voluntary; participants can opt out by alerting staff during the conference and wearing a red armband.
9.1 Occupational and workplace health and safety is each participant’s individual responsibility at the Conference.
9.2 Participants are required to follow all health and safety guidelines and protocols as directed by AbSec and the venue.
9.3 Participants must adhere to relevant government health and safety advice, including isolating if unwell or presenting symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat, and/or shortness of breath.
9.4 To the extent permitted by law, AbSec will not be held liable for any direct, indirect, or consequential loss suffered as a result of a breach of the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (Cth), Work Health and Safety Regulations 2011, and any other applicable occupational laws and regulations, and companies and individual participants acknowledge their responsibilities and liabilities imposed upon them under this legislation.
10.1 Neither AbSec nor the conference conveners shall be liable for any loss caused by the cancellation of the Conference where such cancellation is due to Force Majeure.
10.2 The term “Force Majeure” means any circumstance beyond the reasonable control of the organisers, including but not limited to war, terrorism, riot, civil commotion, natural disasters, acts of government, and transport difficulties.
10.3 AbSec will use all reasonable efforts to conduct the Conference despite the intervention or occurrence of any such cause.
11.1 AbSec reserves the right to remove you from the Conference and/or exclude your participation in the Conference and any future events, without compensation, if in its sole discretion:
12.1 These terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of New South Wales, Australia.
12.2 Any disputes arising under or in connection with these terms and conditions shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales, Australia.
13.1 Waiver: A failure by AbSec to exercise a right or remedy under these terms does not amount to a waiver of those rights and remedies, and any such waiver must be expressly set out in writing.
13.2 Binding Nature: If any provision of these terms is held to be illegal, invalid, or otherwise unenforceable, the remainder of these terms will not be affected, and these terms will be read as if the part had been deleted in the relevant jurisdiction only.
13.3 Entire Agreement: These terms constitute the entire agreement between the parties relating to the subject matter set out herein and supersede all prior discussions and communications.
